CALL: SEEDS FOR FOOD

seedsforfood2

The idea to help feed those in need comes from Willem Van Cotthem, Honorary Professor of Botany, University of Ghent (Belgium). Scientific Consultant for Desertification and Sustainable Development.
I am grateful to be able to help together with the mailart community of which I have been part of for so many years now.
Please feel free to read more about this unselfish and brave initiative which Professor Van Cotthem has worked out and that has made such a difference for so many people in need of fresh food.

This call is open to everybody, and I would like to ask all mailartist to help distribute the call whether it be by snailmail or email. I will be sending paper invitations to all my mailart friends to send along in the mailart network, and there is this call to copy and paste at one’s own desire.
We eat fruits and vegetables daily but throw away the seeds…
By saving the seeds (drying and mailing to one address) we can collect resonable big amounts and send them to places where people do not have enough fruit nor vegetables to eat. We can help people getting food by saving what otherwise would have landed in the garbage.
HOW TO:
Eat your fruits and vegetables, save and dry the seeds ( important), please name the seeds and send them to me as mailart and I will send them on to a central point from where they will all be sent to those in need.
The envelopes and other mailart related pieces (artistamps, collage, drawings, …) will be used in the exhibition.
